Brittany: My Life

By Brittany Langford

As a child I was disowned,
or shall I say
left in a pool of misery.
I missed and wished
of a beautiful life
and a beautiful home.

Now that I’m grown
I can see past the rainy skies
and past the hurt and pain
and I can see through the rain.

As the sky clears up,
and the rain has dried,
you could still see me cry.

I became an artist
and drew a picture of myself
as another woman.

If you look into the eye
you could still see me cry.

I am strong
beautiful
smart
intelligent
open-hearted
spoken for
trust worthy
faithful
unique
and a Nubian Princess

What more could I be?
But my life isn’t over,
and for that I’m thankful.
