Clemente Tech News | March 2003 | Volume 3 | Issue 1

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to Clemente Tech News Online. We’re pleased to bring you this wonderful publication once again, and would like to start by saying “thanks.”

Thanks for your cooperation during this time as we attempt to fill your classrooms with newer, working technology.

Thanks for your patience as we waited months for our printer ink cartridges to arrive and be distributed as needed.

Thanks for your continued support as we expand the technology and help grow the basics of computer usage to full classroom integration.
That said, please take a few moments to read this month’s issue of Clemente Tech News! Enjoy!

Ink-redible results!

Since our last issue of Clemente News (November 2002), we have received ink for the Epson 740, Epson C80, Lexmark Z33, DeskWriter 600 series and DeskWriter 500 series printers. Teachers who had submitted their requests for ink in writing using the Computer Problem Complaint Form were taken care of immediately.

Just as a reminder: If you experience faint or light print from your printer with new or hardly used cartridges, a new replacement cartridge might not be the solution. Try using the printer’s print head cleaning utilities first.

DeskWriter 500 and 600 series: With the printer on, open a blank AppleWorks document. Go to the File menu, and select Page Setup. Then click on the “Service” button to access the printer’s head cleaning utility.
Epson 740 and C80: With the printer turned on, open a blank AppleWorks document. Go to the File menu, and select Print. Then click on the “Services” icon in the upper right corner of the print dialog box. (This icon has a picture of some small tools on it.) Use the head cleaning utility in the resulting window.

You may also perform the same task without use of the computer for the Epson printers. Simply press and hold the ink button, indicated by the ink droplets, for three to five seconds. The printer will then begin to perform the head cleaning.

When all else fails, and the printer is absolutely out of ink, simply fill out the Computer Problem Complaint Form to request a new cartridge. Be sure to specify your printer model. This name and model number can be found right on the front or top (lid) of your printer.

Have a complaint?

As the technology department continues to work toward keeping up-to-date equipment in classrooms and offices throughout the building, please be reminded that all requests for service or assistance not submitted on a Computer Problem Complaint Form are subject to go unanswered. Thank you for your cooperation with us as we strive to foster a greater presence and understanding of technology for all staff and students.
