Tech wars: revenge of the mice
Caught in the mouse trap? Waiting for mouse repair or replacement? We know. In fact, we are constantly calling for repair of broken mice, namely the USB mice for the iMac/eMac computers. Your technology department has waited several months for mouse orders to arrive.
While a few replacement mice are now available, we are still trying to replace broken or missing ones throughout the building. If you have submitted a Computer Help Request Form, don’t worry. Your request is in queue for attention. If you have not submitted the form, but a techie noted a missing or broken mouse during March’s routine inspection, then you are also on the list for replacement.
A few words of caution: Do not swap mice with a partner teacher or another classroom “while you wait.” This leads to miscommunication problems and eventually the demise of yet another mouse that will have to be replaced. If you are in queue for a mouse replacement, the best thing to do is to wait until repairs or replacements can be made.
If you are swapping mice or other computer components that are listed as broken or missing, during the time for replacement, your room could be skipped because your equipment appears to be in working condition. That means someone else’s room is lacking, but the technology department doesn’t know about it because only your room was listed as needing assistance at the time of response.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to get all classroom computer and printer equipment to function.
Inky-dinky do!
Finally, after a year in waiting, we have received ink for the Epson C80 printers. We also just received ink for the Epson 740’s and other models currently in use throughout our building. We will begin replacing ink first for printers on our list of pending Help Requests. Thereafter, we will honor replacements as warranted. We thank you for waiting and for understanding how difficult it can be to get orders into our building.
Just a reminder: be sure to fill out a Help Request form if you need ink replacements. Sending a student to the computer lab with an ink cartridge does not help us track common problems and develop better printing solutions. Please use the form for all such requests and to ensure that your request has been recorded in our database system for fast service.
…And counting
With Spring Break behind us, many of us are counting down the days till June. But not all is a bed of roses. School Operations Officer Sue Herring and the Computer Department are busy at work counting up… equipment in our building. Every year we must complete this inventory, and unfortunately, this year’s inventory deadline falls during the same time as our supplies orders are finally dropping into the building. Please bear with us as we attempt to juggle help requests and this building inventory survey during a few weeks in April.
Of course, we will assert every effort to honor help requests and ink replacements as time permits, but please understand that our urgent priority is to take advantage of this opportunity to streamline our inventory and rid our building of obsolete or broken equipment. We intend to resume “normal” operation again by April 23rd.
