Jacquelyn: The One I Love

By Jacquelyn Maldonado, Grade 6

Some say he’s unique,
Some say he’s really wise.
To me and only me,
It’s no big surprise.

He’s the one that I love.
No one can replace him with a love.
His name is Tico,
Would you like to meet him?

Say, hello!

His wings are probably clipped,
He’s probably trapped inside,
But in his heart,
Is power and pride.

He’s the smartest bird,
With feelings to share.
There’s two things I’ll have for him,
It’s love and care.

He probably can’t fly,
But he’ll keep trying,
Until he soars the sky.
