Carisa: Thankful

I’m oh, so thankful
for many things,
where do I begin?
First, I thank God
for all that I am blessed with.
I thank God
for watching over me
as I rested just last night.

I thank God
for allowing me to rise,
and take on what
each new day brings.

I’m thankful for family,
for those who give me
their love, support
and encouragement.

I’m thankful for
my mom and dad,
who are there for me
day to day,

giving me instruction
and direction, making sure
I’m able to stand up
on my own.

I’m thankful for things like:

clothes, food, and a home.
I’m thankful for teachers
and everyone who is helping me
prepare for my future.

Last, but not least,
I’m thankful for being
a beautiful, Black,
intelligent and creative writer.

I love life, and I’m thankful for it!
